  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and pumpkin puree until smooth.
  • In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bars cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

These bars are best served warm or at room temperature. They can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
