Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Sprinkle the flour over the onion and garlic mixture, stirring constantly for 1-2 minutes to cook out the raw flour taste.

Gradually whisk in the milk until the sauce is smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring frequently, until thickened.

Stir in 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.

Add the sliced mushrooms to the cheese sauce and stir to coat. Pour the mushroom mixture into the prepared baking dish.
